For twenty-five years, I was proving I belonged.
I taught. I led. I showed up for everyone who needed me, and I was good at it.
I also never quite believed I had earned the seat. Smart enough, strong enough, qualified enough. Every day felt like a fresh audition.
So I said yes. To the extra committee, the extra role, the thing nobody was paid to do. Each yes was proof, and proof felt like safety. From the outside it looked like ambition. A full calendar reads as competence, and nobody asks a woman who is handling everything whether she wants to be.
It took years to see what it cost. If I was not doing something to move my career forward, I was following my children's schedule. Those were the only two settings I had. There was no version of the week that included me.
The pattern was never the workload. The pattern was the proving. And it was not going to end on its own, because there is no amount of carrying that finally makes you enough.
Well Lived started the day I decided to break it.
The work is plain. Get clear on what actually matters. Get rid of what does not. Streamline the things that only need to be good enough, which is where AI earns its place in my week and nowhere else. What is left is time, and time is what a life by design gets built out of.
I teach full time while I build this, which means I am working inside the same constraints you are.
I call it Well Lived. Not because productivity is the goal, but because a life that feels chosen is.
If you are excellent and exhausted, and some of what you are carrying is there to prove something, start here.
